We are based in Maleny in south-east Queensland. This is our thirteenth year of operation. During that time we've held conversations with some seventy authors, including Kevin Rudd, Dr Norman Swan, Anne Summers, Anna Funder, Clare Bowditch, Kerry O’Brien, Gillian Triggs, Kristina Olsson, Richard Flanagan, A C Grayling, Malachy Tallack, Richard Fidler, Tim Winton, Alexander McCall-Smith, Magda Szubanksi, Tim Flannery, Ruth Ozeki, Thomas Keneally, Ann Patchett, Richard Ford, Patrick Gale, Chad Harbach, Christos Tsiolkas, Ramona Koval, Kate Grenville, Cate Kennedy, Karen Joy Fowler, Graeme Simsion, Henry Reynolds and the former Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan. Many of these events were sold out.

In 2014 we began recording events. An edited version of some of our conversations can be listened to under the 'podcasts' tab. Unfortunately, due to permission restrictions, we are not able to record all events.

Outspoken operates through selling tickets to our events ($25 for adults, $18 for students unless otherwise stated). We have recently been awarded a grant from Sunshine Coast Council’s Creative Investment Program - jointly funded through ArtsCoast and the SCC’s Art & Heritage Levy.

We very much appreciate the help we get from Rosetta Books - who also operate as booksellers at events - as well as support with publicity from The Hinterland Times, The Glasshouse & Maleny Country News, The Sunshine Valley Voice and ABC Sunshine Coast FM. And, of course, from you, our audience.
